This government initiative is designed to improve access to health care for primary and intermediate school aged children, ensuring they can get the care they need when they need it and avoid possible complications.

CSC And HUHC Discounts

We are delighted that from the beginning of December 2018, enrolled patients with a Community Services Card (CSC) are entitled to considerable discounts on medical consultations:

  • An adult consultation or standard visit with a doctor or nurse will cost $20.
  • Dependents aged 14 – 17 whose parent or caregiver holds a CSC will be charged $13.50.

Community Services Cards are administered by Work and Income on behalf of the Ministry of Health. Click here for eligibility criteria and application.

High Use Health Card (HUHC) discounts are unaffected by the change.  Patients holding both a High User Health Card (HUHC*) and a CSC are entitled to the CSC discount.

*If you visit your doctor more than 12 times a year, ask about getting a High Use Health Card (HUHC). High Use Health Cards can be obtained via your GP who will have a record of your visits and will make an application to the Ministry of Health for you.

Terms of Trade

  1. Wanaka Medical does not operate a credit system for patients.
  2. Enrolled patients are expected to pay for all services immediately after your consultation at reception before you leave the premises.
  3. We reserve the right to ask for payment on arrival (before a service is provided, to ensure payment), this may apply to;

         a. Visitors/ Casual patient – non enrolled patients.
         b. First appointment for new patients.
         c. Those who have an outstanding account.
         d. Those who have had a previous debt with us.

  4. A current price list is displayed at the reception counter, waiting room and on the website. Prices quoted for services may be adjusted from time to time, and the customer hereby agrees to pay any such adjusted price, e.g. in instances where cost of goods increases, government surcharges increases, errors or omissions by Wanaka Medical Centre or its representatives. Prices include GST unless otherwise stated.
  5. Payment is accepted in the form of cash, EFTPOS, credit card or direct credit, or online banking.
  6. We are very happy to work with our patients who are concerned about their ability to pay. It is best to arrange a payment plan that is acceptable and manageable rather than letting debt accumulate. Setting up regular weekly or fortnightly automatic payments can be very useful to help manage your account. This needs to be agreed with management.
  7. Wanaka Medical Centre may withhold further provision of non-emergency services where there is any outstanding amount due.
  8. Where patients are in breach of agreed payment terms, we may disclose this information to debt collection agencies and legal proceedings may follow. This may have an impact on your credit rating.
  9. Interest may be charged on overdue accounts at a rate to be decided by Wanaka Medical Centre from time to time.
  10. Debt Collection fees and costs incurred to recover outstanding monies will be payable by the customer.
  11. Wanaka Medical Centre may disclose my personal information for debt collection, repossession, credit reporting and other similar purposes.
  12. Termination of your enrolment status with us may applied where there is an unresolved non-payment, without prejudice to any claims Wanaka Medical Centre Limited may have.
  13. Variations to the Terms of Trade may occur from time to time, and Wanaka Medical Centre will notify the patient by way of invoice – receipt of which shall be deemed to be acceptance by the patient.
  14. A cancellation/DNA fee may be charged if you fail to keep an appointment or give less than 1 hour notice of cancellation. The fee will be charged at the standard consult rate for the time booked.
