Due to our rural location, all Wanaka Medical clinical staff are trained in emergency medicine. Our accident and emergency service ensures patients with injuries or acute illness can be seen without an appointment although we do appreciate it if someone calls ahead so we can be prepared. Most emergencies can be handled at the surgery. Occasionally, patients will need to be referred to Dunstan or Dunedin Hospital for specialist care and as such, we maintain close relationships with the specialist staff in these locations.
